Quest is often thought of as a lab company, and it is. But Quest is so much more. Quest Diagnostics is the leader in diagnostic information services, serving half the physicians and hospitals in the U.S. and one in three American adults each year with thousands of laboratory services. As a trusted healthcare leader, Quest Diagnostics is evolving to deliver Health IT and technology solutions that help advance quality, outcomes, patient engagement and financial performance across healthcare.

The 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition , which took place February 19–23 in Orlando, brought together 40,000+ health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world to discuss the latest trends and products in Health IT and provided an opportunity for Quest to demonstrate its leadership in the Health IT space. At this meeting, Chuck Webster facilitated an engaging discussion at a lunch and learn with our CIO, Lidia Fonseca and Kenneth Mandl, MD, MPH, Harvard Medical School & Boston Children’s Hospital, Chair SMART Advisory Committee on extending EHR value. We also met with a variety of companies, industry influencers and thought leaders in the space to showcase our solutions to better healthcare outcomes.

At HIMSS 2017, Quest Diagnostics also showcased its new Quanum technology portfolio of solutions, which helps providers, health plans and other organizations to analyze and contextualize data as well as connect and engage people across healthcare and was designed to address analytic, clinical and financial needs.  The Quanum analytics suite includes Data Diagnostics, Lab Utilization and On Demand Informatics, and the Clinical and Financial suite includes our EHR, ePrescribing, eLabs and several clinical products previously sold as Care360. These technology solutions are designed to help healthcare organizations of all kinds surmount their most pressing clinical and operational challenges.

Part of Quanum, Data Diagnostics is a point-of-care health analytics technology that produces patient-specific reports in real time to help physicians easily identify and address gaps in quality, risk, utilization and medical history.  Reports draw from information in the physician’s EHR as well as data from Quest’s 20 billion clinical laboratory test results and Inovalon’s clinical datasets on more than 139 million Americans. Physicians can order Data Diagnostics reports in their existing workflow and EHR, receiving an easy to read actionable report often within seconds. Data Diagnostics ultimately helps providers and health plans improve their ability to deliver on value-based care. Health plans such as Anthem and Harvard Pilgrim are beginning to integrate Data Diagnostics into their services.

Quest entered the Health IT space to address certain gaps including the complexity of the healthcare landscape including value-based care. Quest research published in 2016 shows that most health plan executives and physicians believe the system is too complex and physicians do not have the tools needed to fulfill value-based care delivery.

Quest believes that by offering complete solutions from traditional and advanced diagnostics to health information technology, physicians will have better access to the data and tools they need for better patient care and outcomes.
