The Massachusetts Health Information Management Association (MaHIMA) Winter Meeting and Coding Seminar is an annual event that brings together health information managers and coding professionals to tackle issues concerning governmental, educational, social and business issues which affect the management and use of health information as well as promote synergy and alignment among disciplines which manage and support health information.

At this year’s event held February 3, 2017 in Boston, Dan Schlake, Strategic Accounts Director for the ChartMaxx Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Solution, spoke about enterprise search, which is the practice of identifying and enabling specific content across the enterprise to be indexed, searched, and displayed to authorized users.

In his presentation “Unlock Your Information with Enterprise Search,” Schlake discussed the need to have access to data, noting that “content without access is worthless. Enterprise search is how your organization helps people seek the information they need from anywhere, in any format, from anywhere inside their company – in databases, document management systems and on paper.”

He also discussed the evolution of enterprise search functionality and how new technology has enabled an increased repository of data as a result of IT consolidation and data migration initiatives, which requires greater access and utilization requirements that can be serviced through offerings like ChartMaxx.

Quest Diagnostics and the members of the ChartMaxx solution participate in conferences such as MaHIMA in order to contribute to the discussion around the quality and efficiency of health information systems and structures.
